I am still up in the air about going with bio pellets, I seem to be getting mixed revies on people that have used them and nothing changed and others that they have worked out for.

right now my PO4 is .03 (hanna) which is fine but would like to lower my nitrates as they are around 15-20ppm (elos).

if I do go with bio pellets I am planning on going with a Avast reactor with ATB pellets.

any storys you can share weather it be good luck or bad luck with using bio pellets please share.

TIA
Sam

If your maintaining no3 @ 15-20 with a regular weekly water change and dont plan on adding any difficult corals, I wouldnt even bother with bio pellets. Your livestock list doesnt warrant any investment in the bio pellet "experiment". Your numbers are just fine.

I've been using bio-pellets for almost a year now.Started right away when upgraded to new tank.I have them in TLF 550 reactor with Maxi-jet 1200, very low tumble. My nitrates are 0 and Phosphates also 0 (hanna).I am able to keep a lot of fish in my SPS tank. They strip water of nutrients very effectively,so much in fact I had to start feeding my SPS because they became very pale from lack of nutrients. So far everything is working fine for me.I would suggest to start slow with half of recommended dosage, and see how your tank react to it.

I have started them on my tank and have started to notice some restalls with nitrates the big thing is if you are going to start them they will only go after what nutrients are in the tank so they recommend you using mb7 or another nutrient addiative to jump start them that should help you have to be patient with them it will take 4-8 weeks to see a change.

I had very low nitrate and Po levels, but atill had a bad hair algae problem.
I started using the NP pellets, after about a month and a half by hair algae was just about gone.

well I do a weekly 20 gal. water change just to keep them at that level which is IMO a little much but no ill effects. I biggest thing is I only feed the tank once a day to help keep the nitrates from climbing, however I would like to bump that up to at least 2 feedings a day for the Anthias.
