Thinking of taking a break from the hobby - Testing waters for a complete Elos setup

I've been in this hobby way too long and have had many tanks but my wife and I recently had our first child and I figure it's about time I take a break from this hobby.

I would like to sell the whole setup together or if there is a commitment to all of the items, I will break it up.

All of the equipment is in excellent condition, the cabinet inside and out is "like new", never had a water spill inside and there are no condensation issues in the cabinet (plus, it's coated inside just in case). This system really makes it look like a piece of high end contemporary furniture instead of an aquarium.

Equipment:
- Elos 70 rimless tank New $900+
- Elos Sump 1000 Filtration System includes: NS1000skimmer, 2 Eheim pumps, heater (I know this filtration is an overkill but I wanted the biggest sump I could fit underneath the cabinet) New $1600
- Elos Suncolor EVO 150W DE MH Lighting System: This is the lighting that can be programmed to change the spectrum of the lighting with 4 glass filters built in) New $3000+
- Custom aluminum 2 piece pole purchased from Elos made to hang the lighting system from one of the short side for a "peninsula style" setup, cost for the pole alone was about $300 but as with all Elos products, very well made and makes the lighting look that much better.
- Custom built cabinet by a cabinet maker with maple veneer, no particle board, dark brown/black in color, black acrylic doors with aluminum trim to match the aluminum of the light pole.
- Spectrapure Litermeter 3 for Top Off Device, New $300
- RK2 controller
- Misc items such as test kits, food, net, 3 Magnavore magnets (one for each side of the tank), B-Ionic, additives, extra bulbs, etc.

Livestock:
- Approx. 50lbs. or live rock, these rocks were picked from many systems I have had and downsized to 50 lbs., no boulders, very porous, all very light and pieces you don't see very often nowadays.
- 8 Rose Anemones
- one XL Green Tree Nepthea, one L Green Tree Nepthea
- small colony of Florida Orange Ricordias
- Large Flourescent Green Wellsophyllia Brain coral
- 2 Large colonies of green branching Frogspawns
- Numerous mushrooms, polyps, etc.
- 3 Clownfish that have been together since they were babies, one large, one medium, and one tiny one (all get along)
- misc. hermits

No expense was spared when I had designed this tank as I figured I would be keeping it for a long time. This is a ready run "turn key" system and I would consider selling the complete setup for $2500 but will also consider offers for breaking this up with the livestock going first before any hardware to be sold. I know it's hard in this economy and I can continue to keep it but figured at this point in my life, this would be a good time to sell if there is even such a thing :( If this sells, I'm sure I will be back someday when my son is old enough and we can build another system together :)

Roses on rocks cannot be removed and I will consider selling all the livestock in one package to make it easier.

I will upload some current pics later and may edit this post in case there are things I had forgotten about.

Here is a thread with some pics when the tank was first set up:

Thanks!

I've gotten a few PMs asking for current pics so here is a quick one taken with my iphone, will put more up later but i'm currently on "newborn duty" so it may take until tomorrow.

For those of you that have emailed asking for the individual pieces, I will save those emails and if no one wants the whole system or if I have enough takers for all of the livestock and a majority of the equipment. Sorry I don't have time to respond to each PM individually.

Thanks for your interest.

Sorry for the small pic, will look into figuring out how to post larger pics on here.

Btw, I can totally vouch for Alvin. I've been friends with Alvin for as long as I've been on RC and he's been an outstanding guy with impeccable taste in tanks and friends.:) Good luck with your sale!

Good luck with the sale, Alvin. I got rid of my tank when I had my little girl but now that shes almost 2, im considering getting back in. As you know probably can guess, the bug never really goes away - it just gets tempered when you have children.

@Maximus: Thanks for helping me with my pics and for vouching for me! :)

@Solitaryensis: CONGRATS on your baby girl! I know the bug never goes away, that's why I'm calling it "a break", I'm sure if I sell it, I'll be back someday, hopefully build one together with my son when he's old enough.

Maximus has graciously helped me with the current pics. I apologize for the bad quality pics but it was taken last night with my iphone just to give those interested so far an idea of the current condition of the tank. As you can see, hair algae is starting to grow as the tank has not had its religious maintenance since my son's birth a few months ago but besides that, everything else is in excellent shape.

I have met a lot of wonderful people through this hobby and am sure will be back some day. This hobby not only teaches patience, community, and protecting our environment but also "hands on" approach on working with plumbing, electrical, woodworking, etc. Being able to set another system up later on with my son will be a great life experience, that's why I'm willing to take a break now so we can start from scratch together :)

Thanks again for all those interested and the ones interested in other than the whole setup, I will keep your emails and let you know if it goes that route.

i would like to buy all your livestock if the prices is right or hopefully we can work something out. i dont need the live rock since i already have alot. my cell is 408-888-4127, kenny.

@hhrch: I will give you a call later this evening. I did send you a PM but didn't know you did not have access to it. Thanks for your interest.

@chlwodud85: you got PM. Thanks for your interest.

Looks like the two buyers interested in the whole setup won't be coming through so I've come up with prices for parting it out based on requests from PMs. All livestock must be sold first before any of the hardware goes as I have no other means of keeping livestock alive otherwise:

1) $1500

- Elos 70 rimless tank; New $900+
- Elos Sump 1000 Filtration System includes: NS1000skimmer, 2 Eheim pumps, heater (I know this filtration is an overkill but I wanted the biggest sump I could fit underneath the cabinet); New $1600
- Custom built cabinet by a cabinet maker with maple veneer, no particle board, dark brown/black in color, black acrylic doors with aluminum trim to match the aluminum of the light pole. Cost about $500 to have made.
- Custom aluminum 2 piece pole purchased from Elos made to hang the lighting system from one of the short side for a "peninsula style" setup, cost for the pole alone was about $300 but as with all Elos products, very well made and makes the lighting look that much better. (The pole is custom built to the dimension of the tank so I think it should be packaged with the tank instead of the lighting system so the buyer can use it to hang their choice of lighting)
- Optional Elos circulation system with a small compact Eheim pump built into the overflow intake strainer; New $150
- Misc items such as test kits, food, net, 3 Magnavore magnets (one for each side of the tank), B-Ionic, additives, extra bulbs, etc.

2) $700

- Elos Suncolor EVO 150W DE MH Lighting System: This is the lighting that can be programmed to change the spectrum of the lighting with 4 glass filters built in); New $3000+

3) $180

- Spectrapure Litermeter 3 for Top Off Device; New $300

4) $100

- Digital Aquatics Reefkeeper 2 Controller with Temp & pH probe, original box, manual, calibration packets, etc.

5) All Livestock $600

Thanks and Happy New Year everyone!
