OK, well im getting a 90g. reef tank... with all the good stuff and i have 3 reef tanks in my room.. i have to brake down one so that leaves me with my 1.8g Pico Reef and my 30g. Oceanic Cube... I have my Leaf Fish and i saw a website where someone kept Seahorses and Pipefish and Leafish in there tank... anyway here is a pic of him... thats right around his actual size..

anyway i wanted to put him and a pair of Seahorses in the 30g. since i REALLY dont want to get rid of the Leaf Fish and i really want Seahorses... here's a link to the website that has the tank w/leaf fish, seahorses, and pipefish..

i say go for it, i've seen it done before the seahorses where a good size.....be sure that all are getting enough to eat, also try to buy CB seahorses that eat prepared frozen mysis shrimp

deffinatly.. i have been doing my research on seahorses for about a year now... im going to pick out Nice sized seahorses... since ill have a large selection...ill feed the Leaf Fish before the Seahorses... (not that he even like Mysis.. trying to get him onto Krill and Silversides)...

just be cautious, but I'd do it too... make sure he gets plenty to eat, so he doesn't go after the same peice of shrimp the horses are.

I want one!!!!

You need LisaD! PM her here and she should be able to tell you about this mix.. she's had SH with predators like waspfish or leaffish before I believe. :)

ya.. i found that out.. i posted this in Seahorse.org and someone told me about LisaD ... i PM'd her and got my reply.. she said it wasnt a huge risk and be prepared to feed live food...

I have had leaf fish with seahorses for a long time. They never bothered them, ever. However, I have NEVER heard of leaf fish being trained to eat frozen. Mine only eat live food. If your seahorses are trained to eat frozen, and you feed ghost shrimp or guppies that are too large for seahorses to eat, you completely avoid the competition issue. I LOVE my leaf fish, they are very cool. Mine look a lot like yours. Just be sure to get larger seahorses, mine were all adults when the leaf fish were added.

ya, i have heard ONE person that trained theirs onto Frozen... im just affraid that Ghost shrimp (gutloaded) with Damsels wont cut it... and also wont the Damsels stress out my Seahorses?? do u think gut loaded Ghost shrimp will be fine as a staple b.c. the Damsels might/will stress the Seahorses

damsels? who said anything about damsels? I would not keep damsels with either leaf fish or seahorses.

don't mean to be a thread robber, but what other sorts of dwarf predators would work with seahorses? any of the dwarf lions? (i was lookin' at the fu manchu) or any others?

too big of mouths.

I think that leaf fish are about it, cause they don't really move, and stay pretty small with small mouths, compared to other predators.
