This stuff is driving me nuts!!! It's EVERYWHERE

I've used Chemi Clean a few times in the past with good results to.. Just follow the directions and you will be fine :)

It's good to know that there are some of you, who have used it and know that it does work.:)
I pulled off some more of this stuff today. I can't wait for my order to come in. I was using a filter pad {that was to help remove phospates} in my sump where the water comes into the sump and changed it out today. It was full of snotty looking stuff. My skimmer was really gunkey too.

Was it white slime or red like the cyano?

If you are worried about dead cyano fouling up your water, you may opt to be on the safe side and remove some cyano before treatment as Jim said, and do a water change as soon as cyano appeared to have died off. They should disappear in a day or two. As I mentioned earlier, Red Slime Remover treatment was quite safe followed by a weekly water change.

By the way, Chemi Pure will not work for the red bubble algae. Red bubble algae is tough to eliminate. They can persist in pristine water, too. WEEC was full of them not too long ago and EvilMel was also struggling with them a little while ago. Luckily my foxface rabbitfish ate all of mine, but a rabbitfish is too big for your nano. Can you take the rock out of the nano? You can remove them with tweezers and scrub the remnants off with a tooth brush really well. Be sure to rinse the rock with a plenty of water before putting it back in your tank.

Do you dose kalk with vinegar?

No, but I have before, but not in a long time. I just use Wages pickling lime for my kalkwasser.

Thanks Jim and Tomoko. I will let you all know how it goes. I really appreciate All the help. It should come in next week.

hi mary i have used chemi clean in my tank it works great also when you do your water change take the end of your hose and place it close to the red slime and it will suck it off of your rock and hard corals, if you have the large plastic tip on your hose just pull it off, the smaller tubin will give you more time to remove the slime and makes it easy to clean and move around your rock. if you dont have any plastic tubin then you can get it at any hardware store, 1/2 inch or 3/8 will work.

Well, I treated the tank Sunday night with Red Slime remover. All seems well. I still see some fuzzy stuff left, but it blows off alot easier. I turned off the skimmer and I have done a 20 gal water change. I have added a small media bag of PHOSaR to the sump. I will wait a week or more and see how this does.

I tested the water today
New test kit phosphate{Salifert} - 0
PH- 8.0
Alk - 110 mg/L
Nitrates - 0
Saltlinity - 1.025

For the Nano, I will have to work on that red bubble stuff more. I didn't treat it since Tomoko said it wouldn't help.

Is the Erythromiacin you are referring to the same as I get a prescription from ny doctor for my sinus infections?

I have some left over. If it is the same, I couls use it. It only cost $15.00 for 30 15mg tablets.
