tek-light 8 bulb config.

I wanna run 2 aquablue special actinics in front ans 2 in back then followed by 1 fiji pink following the 2 blue bulbs at both front and back locations and then finsih it off with a aquablue plus 15k and a ge6500k in the middle. Is there no sufficient daylight here for sps? they are in a 90 gallon and located at all depths. currently i run this with the exception of an extra 15k and 1 less blue plus

combo is fine but your calling the bulbs by the wrong names.

ati makes the following

blue plus
aqua blue
pro color
and actinic

there is no aquablue special actinic lol. and the aqua blue isnt 15,k it's 11,000k. Other then that you have a great combo going on there.

all in all sps will be ok with tech. 2 day light only bulbs? 1 being 11k which is now called 15k as well the ge6500? Then 4 being blue and 2 being purple/pink this will provide the right lighting to all corals involved? Just becasue I like the bluer/purple look over the daylight look im just not sure if the 1 65ook and 1 11000k will suffice

The ati aqua blue bulbs is not called the 15,000k and the spectrum isn't 15,000k. The only bulb on the market that is called 15,000k is aqua science and that bulb is even lower in K then the 12,000k aqua blue. If you want a full 8 bulb with the best of everythign ehre is what i suggest.

ATI BLUE PLUS
ATI AQUA BLUE
ATI PURPLE PLUS
UVL SUPER ACTINIC
ATI AQUA BLUE
UVL ACTINIC WHITE
ATI BLUE PLUS OR UVL SUPER ACTINIC
ATI BLUE PLUS

If you are worried that you don't have enough "daylight" bulbs, don't. They aren't necessary, will they help growth sure, but your growth without them will not be hindered at all.

I run 3 ATI Blue+, 2 ATI AB Special, 1 ATI Purple+ in a six bulb ATI fixture over my 90G. Growth and color are great.
I've used most bulbs including the GE6500 (as I like to experiment) and it wasn't for me, too yellow.

so combo i am going to go with is this back to front

ati blue plus
ati blue plus
fiji purple
ati aquablue special
ati aquablue special
fiji purple
ati blue plus
ati blue plus

This works? Have sps to the bottom and love the fiji and blue look as opposed to the ge yellow wash look. 90 gallon. Should this combo suffice for both enyoment and sps thriving.

spread out your aqua blues. Any corals at the front of the tank will not get the spectrum from them, only the corals in the middle of the tank.

if you have never seen the purple plus or fiji purple i would only get one for now. i think 2 will make your tank very purple.

also if you can afford the extra price i would look at the new kz line. i just switched my bulbs in my 7 54watt constillation to 2 kz new gen(14k bulb with absolutly no yellow) 2 kz coral blues( similar to the ati blue plus but makes corals pop better) 2 ati blue plus(these are a great blue bulb with tons of par) and 1 kz fiji purple

i absolutly love this color combo. gives me a 17kish look. i could not get this look with just the ati bulbs because of the slight yellow tint that was in the aqublue specials.

the kz new gen is my favorite bulb so far. it is a perfect stand alone bulb or suplemented with the blue bulbs.

only problem is the price tag. they are about 8 bucks more per bulb, but well worth the money for the color i have now. also the uvl bulbs have a pinkish hue to them. tryed them out but didnt care for the look.

if i spread them out and put them each where the purple kz are is this enough daylight with my current listed combo? Or do I ned to have another aquablue in there as well? Maybe rid one of the specials or a fiji

Also the tek lighting system switch has the front two and rear two in one switch and thats why i have to have my blue bulbs there for the dusk and dawn look

Just thought I'd share:

I put new bulbs in my T5 fixture today. Its just a 24" fixture over a 2x2x1 tank. I did, front to back:

Blue+
AquaBlue Special
Purple+
Blue+

I have to say that I absolutely love the results. I hate hate hate super blue tanks, and this gives me a perfect 14k look, but maybe a little towards 12k. It looks so nice, I'm thinking about this same config next year if I move from MH to T5 on my display.

Now I just hope I get good growth and color out of them :) Its only a holding/frag tank, but I guess we'll see, as I have some nicer stuff in there to "test" it out :)
