To much of a pain to differentiate between the good and bad ones. Any I see might just have to go.

ive got TONS of astrenia in my tank.....never noticed any munchin away at zoas....but im gona start eyeballing them since my growth has slowed down...

I have a good number in my tank. Have yet to see one on zoas/corals. They do munch on algae, and even coralline algae. Though, the coralline growth seems to far outpace any that gets eaten.

The only ones that I've heard that eat coral are the green ones, but they are very uncommon. Maybe yours were just eating the algae that's irratating your zoas

color has nothing to do with it, but at times they can take on a similar shade to whatever it is they are munching on. There are countless different kinds of asterinas, and some are certainly predatory.

Telling the good ones from the bad ones apart visually is impossible unless you catch them doing it and see damage

I have had both sps munchers and zoa munchers over time, so as far as Im concerned it doesnt matter that most are just algae grazers. I do not discriminate. If I see an asterina I get it out

Oh, he was definitely munching. Don't think my population of Pink Fusions is going to recover either. Sometimes my zoos close for a few days, but after a week I decided to inspect closer and sure enough this little guy was camouflaged in there and had to rip him off.

I know I've got atleast 100 to 150 asterina starfish in my tank, so far I have caught two munching on my zoas you can tell they're eating the zoas when they're on them for a day or two but if you wait that long the damage will be done already.

Thanks for the heads up. I've got enough in my tank that if they decided to start making a meal of my zoas, 'd be wiped out in a week.
