Anyone interested in getting some Thorite for aquascaping ventures. It will run about $64 with the shipping to TN. I have to get 10 buckets for the best price.

Thorite 400
Architectual Patching Mortar
Thorite 400 is a cement based , polymer modified, patching mortar available in a range of factory made, batch blended, standard and custom colors. It contains inorganic, alkali-resistant pigments with good resistance to weathering and fading. It is a fast setting mortar with low slump properties suitable for trowel applications to above grade, vertical, overhead or non traffic bearing, horizontal surfaces with using form work.
Thorite 400 modified with Acryl 60 diluted with water permanently bonds to properly perpared architectural concrete and masonry substrates to form durable, long lasting patches which are waterproof to wind-driven rain. Once fully cured, Thorite 400 patches will perform in above-grade, exterior exposures when subjected to either freeze-thaw attack or desert conditions.

Thorite 500 modified with Acryl 60 diluted with water can be used to patch cast-in-place or precast, steel-reinforced architectural concrete. It can be used on precast or tilt-up concrete panels, highway median barriers, curbing, sound barriers or retaining walls. Pearl gray blends well with architectural concrete to reduce or eliminate dark, unsightly patches and is easily topcoated with cement-based coatings, acrylic coatings or even clear, penetrating water repellents without causing a mottled or ghost image effect. The integral color cannot be abraded or worn off. It can be used to patch honeycombs, form tie-wire holes, small spalls, surface irregularities and other minor surface defects caused by shallow freezing, impacts or planer irregularities dut to misaligned forms or inadequately consolidated concrete.

I went ahead and got some Quikrete Quikwall, which is supposed to perform similarly. We were told that thorite is no longer manufactured and the local supplier couldn't get any. The Quikwall is available at lowes for around $15/bag.

It is still made. I talked to the company today. Local supplier just probably thought it was a pita to order and pay the shipping to have it sit on his shelf. I don't blame him. I don't know of using the quickrete for this. Do you have any threads or where anyone has used it and not had problems?

Im gonna try the quickwall that you suggested anyways since it is alot cheaper and i read some links that you posted about using the quickwall which showed it was safe.

Yea, I'm reading the same. Seems they both need alot of curing but I have yet to find any bad reviews on the quickrete. I may have to try and convince Del to use the quickrete. Saves lots of moola.

oops vikebron beat me to it lol. took me to long to find the link. anyways heres the links that i read that crumbletop posted when i asked about it

edit: links arent working. im having a rough day lol

That's regular thorite -- not thorite rapid vertical. Rapid vertical is the stuff that is supposed to cure quickly, and is the stuff I think they stopped making.

yea the guy said that they had quit selling the rapid vertical thorite which i forgot about but i mentioned it in the other thread where i originaly posted the link for you guys. this stuff takes longer to cure the guy told me that used it but still cures fast enough so that the ph wont be so high and gives you more time to work so it actually worked better for his reef club then the rapid. heres the link to where i originally posted, i just forgot to add that it wasnt the same thorite like i did in my other post but its what others are using now
