Those w/ ASM g3 skimmers

I am buying an asm g3 this week and need to know if I should do the recirculation mod right away. What are the benefits of this mod? I am going to do the gate valve on it also. Thanks for any input.

I have a G3 with recirc mod and if I was starting over I would do the gate valve mod only. Unless you are running it on a very large tank there is little benifit, but the gate valve mod is a must.

I have a G3 on a 125 gallon mixed reef. I have not done the recirc mod. The G3 is doing a great job so far without it. The guys at asmskimmer.com advised me to try it without the mod first. On my system 8 fish about 35 corals I am happy with the performance so far. These skimmers really work well. I am planning on doing the Mod in the future, it does not look hard at all. I also have a 30 gallon refugium with Macros and a DSB, which I am sure is helping things too. What skimmer are you running now??

I'm running a modded seaclone. My bioload isn't that big right now. But I'm sure the ASM will pul out the crap more efficiantly. Do you have any other problems with this skimmer?

You may want to browse through the "ASM Skimmer Club" thread. Lots of info in there. Basically, ASM skimmers aren't really top shelf, but for the price, they're great.

Well I know its not a Deltech but like you said for the price it's not too bad. I've dumped alot of $ since December upgrading lighting, Basement sump, canopy, etc. Now finally the skimmer. This should be the last big investment for awhile.
