Thought I lost my torch.

Looked up at my tank last night and saw that 3
of the 7 heads on my torch all deflated and long
brown stringy stuff coming out of the heads.
I was about to be very upset.

You can see the heads in the back are not showing any signs at all of doing what the front 3 are.

Here is a close up.

I think maybe it is expeling some of its zooxanthellae
or maybe it was just cleaning house of waste.
What ever it was doing lasted for about 30 minutes.
I looked at it real close and from the looks of the tips
it didnt look like it was dieing. Just expelling. Allthough
it may still be in bad shape, and expelling its
zooxanthellae will kill it. I just didnt get that feeling.
I am happy to say that today its out and looks no
different than it did yesturday.

Here is a few of my tank while I had my camera out.
I moved the torch to the end of the tank.
A little less flow. Nothing else looks like its unhappy.
Not sure why it did that. It may be my 10k's. are way
more light than it was use to. Had to get rid of some.
I hope its ok. Seems so.

I dont have a torch, but my other LPS barf all the time.... well maybe not all the time, but they've done it before and bounced back fine. My shrooms/ricordia do it too. I wouldnt worry too much.

ohhh well about over night....then the flesh...lil buggers got onto my acan and started stingin it...lol in the morning i found it and took it off...

Im not sure what it was doing but Im sure its ok. You cant tell it had ever looked bad. Matter of fact its nicer and healthier looking now than anytime since I got it Saturday.

Could it possibly be sexual reproduction? It looks a bit like that to my very untrained eye. That could explain why fatrip's died but a few others have had it happen more than once and have had no problems. I'm just thinking out loud here.

I have never seen how a torch reproduces but I quess it could be. The remaining heads followed suit and sprayed out the same
stuff tonight. I didnt look at it very close exept to say there goes the rest off them. If the first ones are any indication then it will be all better tomorrow. At this point im just happy it doesnt apear life threatening.

sometimes new corals will put off a "slime" when introduced into a new enviroment. I think it has something to do with different salinity levels irretating them but don't quote me. I've had a couple of lps that have done something simialar but the "slime" was a milky white in color don't know if this helped at all but best of luck

This was most deffinetly inards. Its mouth was wide open. Didnt seem like a slime if I am thinking the same as what your calling "slime" This was internal material. To me slime is a term of external excretment. Milky white huh? Never saw that either. Not sure I want to :) doesnt sound like it would look very good either.
