not quite a fish you'd usually keep in a tank, but thought i'd share. we got it yesterday from a local fisherman, so hopefully it will get to our 140,000 gal tank one day. although it will eventually need to be released.

That is very cool. I have seen one on a cruise before. Did the fisherman just net it out of the water or did he catch it?
The larval stage looks even stranger like those water mines you see in all of the old WWII submarine movies.

i was told it swam by the dock and it was dipped up with a bucket. can't wait for it to grow.

Very cool I've only seen the adults before. It's wild to think something that gets so big could ever have started out so small.

If that is the same as the ocean sunfish. They get huge, and nasty. I was watching a show were they were floating at the surface so seagulls can pick the slime, and parasites off them.
