Thoughts on going topless

I took the top off of my tank due to heat issues from the halides when I had them and gas exchange is also important like PRDubois mentioned

I've been topless for about 2.5 years. Besides the restrictions on fish selection its been great. My fish are not jumpers but any fish could potentially jump. So far I've lost none.

i have wrasses and must have proper coverage ,so it really depends on the fish being housed . do you know what fish you hope to purchase ?if so you should read up on the requirements of them and that will easily answer your question .

Thanks guys.

iamwrasseman - Right now I've got the two clowns, but I'm not really sure what else I want to get. I had two chromis, but they recently died, I think from jumping injuries.

I'm thinking about getting some zoanthids once I get my light, but I'm not really sure what other fish to get. Any ideas?

I run topless also.. its the best... so free feeling =)
I went to home-depot and bought some acrylic light weight and cheap and had them cut it into 2 1/5 inch stips and place that around the inside lip of my tank. Havnt lost a fish since i put this top on. From normal veiwing lvl it looks like I have no top at all.
