thoughts on my first stand build

so I recently made a stand for a new 20g long I'm setting up and this is what it ended up looking like might do a second coat of stain

Is that paint or stain? If stain, how did you apply? Did you use a pre conditioner? Is that the look you are going for? How do you think it looks?

Legitimately trying to help and be constructive here. The reason you sand between coats is that the stain will cause the wood fibers to lift slightly so you sand them back down. You want to go with the grain. You can tell be running you finger in both directions, you'll be able to feel. Kind of like a shark skin, LOL! Always apply anything in the direction of the grain. And always take my advice with a grain of salt, as I am no carpenter, unless you are like Frank, then you should take my advice as gospel:wildone:

This is good advice. I was going to say, :idea:"thank god it's not mine" but definitely go with his.

It's black wood stain that is the look in going for just darker when I get home from a school I'm gonna be doing a few more coats throughout the day
