Please help Reef Central. i have a 220g F/O with no live rocks. there have been no new additions to my tank except for a Scribbled Angel last month (who went through a QT with no problems). I have no live rock. A few moments ago I noticed on the glass that there are thousands of very tiny wormlike creatures attached to the glass. They are moving around, some quite quickly, and some are up to 1/16" big. My fish (angels and tangs) are spotless and otherwise fine. I have heard a litlle about flukes; could this be? I am appealing to Reef Central experts only please as I need to do something and I have no clue on where to start. I have a 25watt UV that obviously is useless here. I would post pictures but these critters are just too small.

I am pretty sure they aren't flukes as they can't be seen with the naked eye. My guess, and only a guess would be they are beneficial worms that eat detritus. I've tried a google search and yahoo search and came up empty. But, most parasite worms are internal worms that again you won't see because they are IN the fish. And no parasite lives long without a host, so if they are multiplying on the sand bed, that is where I came to the conclusion they should be harmless. Pull one out if you can and take it up to the LFS. They should be able to give you some sort of answer.

Does it look like a spider or brittlestar? I know your tank is not gonna to look pretty with those, but you can probably try a sixline wrasse and I'm sure this wrasse will eat them.

yeah i think i had those in my 55 gallon before. they never hurt anything. but the look like mini tadpoles but in white that stuck to the glass and some would free swim. have no clue as to what they are though.
