Three Leather being attacked?

Could someone please tell me what is happening here? My Tyree has stopped putting out his tentacles. I think this started about 1 week ago which is about when I noticed this blob thing attached and growing at his base. Is this some kind of parasite? Should I rip/cut/pull it off. Help please
(meant to put Tyree Leather in the subject, not sure how to edit that)

It looks like a sponge of some sort. Are you sure the leather isn't just shedding right now. Some take a while then come back. My devils fingers has all kinds of things growing next and around it but it closes up and sheds then opens up bigger than before. I would give it a minute to see how it reacts.

So my Tyree Leather has still not come out (8 days plus), is everyone pretty sure that the green thing (sponge) that appears to be attached to my Leather is not some kind of parasite slowly killing the Leather? Whatever it is, is there a downside to trying to remove it?

Late reply. I have a toad that opens up about twice a year for a few hours, another leather that has polyps an inch long flowing in the flow. Finger leather sheds twice a month. really if it is bothering you, as it may be irritating the leather, scrape it off and see what happens. I really do believe it's just going to shed. Some take longer than others. Do you have a nice flow to help it shed ? It should really be ok.

I agree that's it's a sponge. You could pick it off but I think it is nothing to worry about either. Mine will close for a couple weeks at a time. They are an easy coral but can drive you nuts if you stare at them too long. LoL
