Thriving Elegance Coral

Since I am normally posting about problems, I thought I would post an image of what seems to be a thriving Coral. This elegance coral doesn't always look this good but today it seems very happy and healthy. You can get a perspective of the size from the clowns. Those clowns are close to 2" from the head to tail.

Enjoy.

Looks awesome - how long have you had it? Always wanted one but success rate seems low, do you direct feed it?

Thanks for posting about the success. That elegance looks amazing!

I'm interested about your feeding habits and do you have the fleshy part raised from the sand a little bit, or how do you place it in the sand?

Thanks. I added it to my tank on Feb 6, 2011 so I have had it for about 6 months. I have tried some direct feeding but I can't seem to get it to eat. But I do add Oyster feast to the water column once or twice per week. It is my understanding that you need to buy the Aussie variety to have a better chance of success but this is just what I have read and what the LFS told me.

Thanks again,
Pat

As mentioned above, I have not had luck with direct feeding so I suspect it "eats" the oyster feast and then I also feed some frozen mysis so it may get some of these scraps. The skeleton on this one is about 3" tall and it started out about 2" or so buried in the sand. But now due to changes in my water current and erosion, the sand underneath the coral is only about 1/2" - 1" but it seems to be happy. Also, after I noticed how it seemed to be growing I moved my rock abit so it had more room and so the polyp did not press against the glass. Front to back the polyp is roughly 5-6".

Thanks for our comments.

Hey Pat,
I just wrote on another thread here about Elegance coral. They need a "meaty food" small pieces of "Silverslides".Might try soaking in a little Selcon, before feeding. It might take awhile for them to get used to food.
And yes the Aussie Elegance is a healthier, than the other ones that used to come in.
