Throwing em all away and start over?

I guess another hobbyist has gotten AEFW. Or so I think, I never seen any bite marks like this but Im thinking it is, (towards the center of the coral)




Has anyone ever seen this type of marks ?

Syptoms:
usually less P.E throughout the day
tips start dying, kind of like alk burns but polyps still inside,
coral start producing string like tentacles like its getting food, or coral warfare.


It took some time to diagnose the problem. I thought it was my alk but after lowering from 8.2 to 7 didn't solve anything.

I havent dipped the coral yet, Its encrusted. No signs of RB either. or any night predators.

Tank has been up for 7-8 months after moving. Everything is settled in, I havent changed anything equipment wise...

hm.. tough one.. not typical aefw bite marks..
do you have more pics?
is it just this coral?

I dunno, I wouldn't be ready to call it aefw quite yet. Do you see any circular bite marks? It could just be parameter issues

Its a few 1-2 corals and after they perish it goes to the next, but it always starts with the same symptoms this is the only picture I have, I'll dip the coral this week, but after dipping they go straight stn from the base and never recover



I've lost 2 SCC mini colonies like this size, and my red and blue millie is starting to have less P.E now.

I dunno, I wouldn't be ready to call it aefw quite yet. Do you see any circular bite marks? It could just be parameter issues

I do see some that look like it at the base of the coral, if you take a look at the picture, middle bottom you can see just a 1cm circle,

Calibrate refractometer lately? I saw similar when my SG was too high due to my lack of calibrating it.

Looking at your other threads you started I ephod say something is off on you system. Dinos so weird things to coral.

just updating everyone, added some coral in a QT tank and they are recovering.

so everything started going downhill about 3 months into running the tank,

first signs were snails dying turbo's and ceriths, hermits (10) I personally thought it was because of dino's ( didnt confirm if it was actually dinos or not, )

then I started loosing color and less P.E. I fed more etc at the same time i did 10% W.C

I started getting lazy and stopped for 2 weeks. ALL hell broke loose. on acro after another, just crazy. dipped and see if anything fell off. zip. tested water. bought another kit (3) total to be safe. everything was in place,

at this point I was only dosing 6ML ca.alk daily, which is low for having 2 clams and loads of acro's.

thinking back, I never had a problem with with my old tank, being this was a used tank supposedly leemar, edges were black silicone and bottom pane was clear ( do they do it like this? )

So I tested for copper, and gotten a polyfilter, The filter was turning blue by the next day and copper test kit had elevated copper in it.

never again will I buy a used tank.
