Tiger Blenny

So about a year ago I was looking for a blenny. But I live in the middle of nowhere and my lfs only had what they called a tiger blenny Ecsenius tigris. It was tiny. Maybe 1.5cm. And in the last year, it has gotten to about 3cm but is still the nearly see through fish it was when I got it. Anybody know a) if this actually is a tiger blenny, and b) how long do they live. It is at least a year old and looks nothing like any Google images of Ecsenius tigris.

Hmmm. Hearing elsewhere it's a tiger goby not Blenny.

That is a Tigrigobius macrodon. Its not a blenny but a goby, specifically tiger goby.

So I think we can all agree it’s a tiger goby. Anyone ever have one? Does it ever get a different colouration? How long do they live?

It is uncommon in aquarium hobby and rarely collected. It might shows up in florida area LFSs as the fish is local southern florida.

It i closely related to to green banded goby, Tigrigobius multifasciatus, which is more comely collected and is more colorful. Green banded goby has a short lifespan of 1-2 years. I assume this one has something like that as well.

Interesting. I was told this was bred in captivity. 1-2 years would be sad because already over a year old. And while it's not the tiger Goby I wanted (those things look awesome) I still like the guy. Comes out at feeding time and jumps around the rocks to snatch food from the bigger fish lol.

It probably can be captive bred since people easily captive bred green banded goby. I assume breeding method for these two are almost identical.
