Tigertail Sea Cucumber - Is it dieing or just taking time acclimating??

I recently purchased a tigertail Sea Cucumber (I believe) which I drip acclimated for about 2 hrs since my LFS keeps his salinity pretty low. I keep mine at 35. I put him in the DT after acclimation and he settled near the edge of a rock (I have quite a bit of flow in water column) on one side and kind kept his mouth end in toward the rock...but was moving (body).

The next day I saw him facing upward near that rock/sand bed with his mouth open and not moving...seemed strange. I basted him gently with my baster and his mouth closed. So I guess he is alive, but didn't look right.

The next day, he was again facing upside down with mouth open...not moving. I noticed some, what appeared like slime coming from his underneath where the little legs are. So I thought...damn better get him out. I have hermits and they have ignored him from the start. I grabbed him out and put him in my sump on my driptray on filter pad and noticed he was still moving...but had this slimmy stuff attached to him. He wasn't dead and didn't smell...so I kept him in the drip tray to observe. Later that evening his mouth was open again and was facing upside down. I did notice that his legs would move once in a while...strange. This went on for 2 days.

Finally, today he was facing normal downward...seemed like he may be eating the detrius from my pads and his legs were moving a little more...slime is gone....but he is still moving much slower than when I got him day 1.

My question is, is he in the process of slowly dieing or is he just taking extra time acclimating to my tank?? This is my first SC and read that if they die, they can poison other mates in the tank.

Any advice with personal experience would be appreciated!!!!
