Time for an upgrade!! :-)

Well I am back. It's been quite some time since I have been active on RC because I have been in the process of building a new house. It's been quite an undertaking since I am the General Contractor and doing some of the work myself, but finally the end is in sight! With that being said, its time to start planning for the new tank! My plan is to take both my systems and combine them into 1 with a DT in my family room (I'm thinking 200gal 48x36x28tall) and the sump and pumps in the basement. This is the first time I will have a set up like this and I was looking for some suggestions from those of you who have done this, what would you do or not do if you were in my shoes?

Congrats on the new house. I have the 200 48x36x28". If I were to do it over, I'd have gone custom 48x36x24". That being said, other than several wet shirt sleeves, I'm very happy with my 200. I did get mine without corner overflows. Had an overflow box made and drilled it myself for a beananimal overflow which I could not be happier with. See my build thread. More than happy to follow along and help where I can.

You planning basement sump?

Other equipment or design plans?

for the basement sump consider two external return pumps instead of one - you will be happy if one breaks or needs to be serviced. I was told dual pumps draw less power also. plumbing should be 1 1/4 or 1 1/2"
