Time Frame for QT

Just trying to get an idea of how long before Ich, or other spreadable diseases take to show up.....

Reason being, I got a Yellow Tang in last Thursday, and well it arrived larger then expected, and my quarantine tank is only a 20high, and she still seems stressed out.. pacing the glass, light colored line on her side, etc... I wanted to keep her in QT for at least 4 weeks, but.. not sure if the stress is helping her any...

Any ideas?

I would never QT a tang less than 4 weeks and probably 6 to be safe. Tangs are notorious for having problems.

How large is the tang - a 20 gallon tank s/b Ok for Qting if the tang is not large.

Making sure the fish has plenty of "hiding spots" in the QT will reduce stress - some appropriately sized PVC pipes should work fine. When I have a super skitish fish I will wrap the outside of the tank with some newspaper .. converts the tank into a "cave" and the fish quickly quiet down .. you can gradually start to peel back the paper after a week or so.

Ok, I actually thought of that today.. I have some extra background film I'm putting on the sides... she seems to have calmed down a little,,, at least she's eating Nori now..... Although she still has the colored band on her side.. around the lateral area.....

The Tang is at least around 4" the QT tank is also my coral QT tank, so she has decent places to hide.. although the first 3 days, she just swam back and forth along the back of the tank.... She seems to calm down some when the lights come on.... I'm planning on at least a 4 week QT... Hopefully that will be long enough to notice any problems.....
