time to replace ro/di filters, what do you recommend

It's been over a year and I need to change my ro/di filters badly. my current line-up is 5 micron sediment, two carbons, the ro filter, a di inline with replacable di resin, and another in line for carbon. I don't think I need the last carbon filter because as I understand, it's for taste and I use this for aquarium use only. I was thinking of changing to a 1 micron sediment or maybe removing a carbon for a 1 micron after the 5 micron. Bad idea? Who has found the best price for replacement filters and resin. Standard size filters.

you can get replacement filters from whomever

reefgeek
airwaterice
etc....

5 micron sediment
5 micron carbon
1 micron carbon
inline DI cartridge

Replace the sediments and carbons at 6 mos regardless. Get an inline TDS meter to test the tds before and after the DI. replace the DI cartridge when your TDS starts climbing unacceptably on the post DI side. membranes need to be replaced usually every 2-3 yrs or so. HOWEVER if you've been using your filter with essentially defunct carbon filters your membranes life has been cut--the chlorine hurts the membrane.
