timered flow?

lets say a tank runs 15x nominal flow
light cycle, 12 hrs moon, 2 hrs blue, 10 hrs blue and daylight
flow rate, blue only-15x, blue and daylight-25x, moon-15x
would it be bad to reduce flow, maybe 5x flow in the "wee hours" for 3-5 hours? is it a bad idea altogether to increase/decrease flow rates during the day? saw this mentioned a couple times, but can't find much info. just like to hear some opinions.

Most pumps and powerheads will burn out prematurly on timers. ( hence why controllable powerheads are avalible)

not all the time but yes it can happen. They are not designed to run on/off, it puts wear on the motor and magnets.

you have a point, but i guess anything can happen. i was just wondering if it was bad/good for the livestock. mimic the ocean.
