Timing Question

okay fellas

here is my situation, i have my tank full, salt is in and mixed, temp is perfect, ph is same as the sump and fuge,

long story short, the water is the same in my tank (180 gallon)

as my sump and fuge (90 gallon approx)

im ready to add the tank into the "loop"

since the salt/water has only been mixed for a couple days in the 180, how long should i wait till i turn the valve to get the tank in operation?

and am i basically doing a 200% water change by doing this

thanks

Jerry

I think the 2 days is enough waiting, the salt is all dissolved by now I am sure, just verify the salinity. I would turn the valve

Unless you take water out and dump it down the drain you are not really doing a water change

i just checked, the temp isnt quite up to the sump/fuge temp, its about 6 degrees cooler in the tank, so im just gonna wait a few more days, no need to rush it.

thanks for the reply Tony.

just water and salt in the tank.

in the sump/fuge, i have 3 fish, some corals, live rock.

as far as the temp stabalizing, it will stabalize over time, if i mix, it will drop the fuge temp, and i dont wanna stress anything out by doing that, so far i havent lost anything during this tank swap (luckily) so im just gonna hang out and look at the water for now.

Good luck, Jerry. I'm glad things are moving along well for you. Can't wait to see pics when it's loaded up!

Thanks John-

things are moving along pretty well, a few leaks, which is normal, i didnt like the flow on the closed loop, had to re do the flow thru the bottom bulkheads - i was smart enough to listen to my wife and fill the tank with a hose to do a flow test on that, so i didnt waste all that RO water.

other than that, itys been pretty uneventful

the back has been painted black, now i need to find some HUMONGO size rocks.

We did a 100-150% when we turned our system over to integrate the sump. Everything fared very well during the change over.

im not trying to be smart, but i have a question, how you guys change 150% and 200%??, i can't never go over 100%

and after 100% is something else??? after changing 100% you changed it all so it will be just 100% right???

its really not a water change at all, its really just overall system dilution, kinda the same thing as a water change, but with out actually changing the water.
