Tiny BTAs

Hi Guys,

This fellow reefer in my area has a tank exploding with tiny green BTAs. Theyre all less than 1.5" in diameter. The odd thing is that they dont seem to grow. If fed, they just divide before hitting much more than 1.5". Anyway, theyve also been growing in numbers so he's getting rid of some.

Before anyone asks, we're very sure these are not majano anemones or aiptasia.

My question is this, if i get a lot of them (maybe half a dozen or so) and place them on a rock in the middle of the sand, assuming they dont migrate much, will i be able to keep a pair of juvi maroons and try to make them host the colony?

My reasoning was that theyd think its just a big anemone. Also, the damage done by the clowns would be spread out over several of the tiny BTAs.

Does anyone have any idea if this'd work?

Without a picture of the anemone we cant tell you anything.
My guess is they are majano anemones. They come in a pretty green color and bubble up just like BTA's

I'd bet they are Tulip Anemones.. They are green/red. I have tons of them.

May we ask, how you are sure they are not Majano's?

Hi

Like i said, we're pretty sure theyre not majanos. Theyve got nice bubble/nipple tips, hide their columns in cracks in the rock, and tehy look like a tiny hitchiker BTA that came in on my rock (which has since grown to 4" across). Their columns are smooth.

I dont think we get tulip anemones here cos all our stock is locally taken (GBR) and i think tulips are from the carribean/atlantic.

Does anyone forsee any problems with the clown hosting them though.

It is up to the clowns....some will call anything "home."

Is is highly unlikely you are seeing E. quadricolor aka Bubble Tip Anemone, Corn Anemone, etc.

From the description they sound like Majano.
