tips of sps dying

I currently started getting into sps started off with a few monticap pieces and a milli the monticap died almost instantly because I was a little to harsh while attaching it to my rocks. Then I started to notice some tissue die-off started at the tips but then stupid me went out and got a bali tricolour and now the tips are starting to die off on that. My mille has about 1/4 to a 1/2 inch recession on the tips that are just white or covers in algae then on the tricolour just the tips are dead. What am I doing wrong I don't want to kill these please help?:headwally::furious:

more info? lighting? how long has the tank been set up?
phosphates are high. What levels are your nitrates? What are you doing for nutrient export? sump? skimmer? Answer all the usual questions and you will find more help.

Phospahtes are quite high and depending on the lighting this may cause the issue. Higher Phophates aren't going to kill it, but the the combination of high nutirents and high enough lighting will cause the tips to burn (bleach). Higher nutrients will cause the coral to be more sensitive to light.

I should say that high (0.11ppm) of nutrients will not kill sps, unless it is coupled with high lighting.

Phosphate being that high isnt going to cause death of SPS. However, if you tried to reduce the level too fast, that may be a cause.

Are you dosing any organic carbon like vodka, sugar etc? Did you recently add a load of GFO (phosphate remover)? Or add a load of GAC/Carbon?

Your Calcium is high, and if that reading is correct can be reduced a little..either by water changes or let it drop via usage.

How old is your tank?

tank is about 5 moths old, but I got the full setup from a fellow reefer who has had it set up for 2 years and I put on a giesemann infiniti over my 90 gallon with 2 14k Phoenix bulbs with 2 ati blue plus and 2 ati actinic that is 12" over the water. Background of the tank is that it is a 90 gallon tank with 55 gallon sump inside the sump is a swc160 skimmer, bag with about 1 cup of GAC a large refugium and a phosban reactor with rowaphos(added after the bleaching started)
