Tips on Tunze mountings on a Juwel tank

I have two Juwel tanks (a common European brand) and the railing on top makes it very difficult to use the Tunze brackets when monuting things. I have a reefpack 500 that sort of sits where I want it, but I'm now trying to figure out how to attach an osmolator only to my smaller tank.

Has anyone done a DIY solution for Jewel tanks?

cant you get a magnet for the tunzes ???

Well, the reefpack I think can be mounted that way (with modification for the osmolator sensor), but I think the cup would be to close to the railing that way. Unless there are some sort of distances I can use between the magnet and the reefpack?

The osmloator for the smaller tank can't be held with magnets due to the sensor.

Hi Nizztos,

I am familiar with the Juwel aquariums as they are also sold in Australia, the mounting bracket should attach to the horizontal plastic inner frame lip or you can silicone the Tunze rail to the glass, the osmolator instruction booklet refer to these mounting options.

This makes me believe that the tanks you have there are not identical to ours. There is no horizontal lip (well, there is but it is about 5mm wide) in ours.

Glueing the rail would be an alternative for the osmolator, except that it would put the water surface well below the rim. This would not look pretty at all.
For the reefpack I would again run into the problem with the skimmer cup not fitting due to the rim.

Hi Nizztos,

You are right the lip is pretty slim so the clamp option is tricky I was at home when I posted and remember it being wider. You may need to go with a little creativity and buy an additional rail and a couple of Tunze Nut&bolt to saddle a second rail to a siliconed rail this should give you the clearance and height you need.
The Juwel aquarium hood design is simple and very functional but never had osmolators in mind when conceiving the hood arrangement.

Hmm, that is actually not a bad idea. For the osmolator at least. The Tunze rails are a bit on the large size for just attaching the sensors, but Cutting them into 4 smaller rails and gluing 2 on top of each other should let me get something that I could glue to the glass, get clearnace and also get a rail to stick up high enough so that the sensors are in correct position.
