hey guys,
i am having a hell of a problem gettin hair algae under control, and i am thinkin about gettin the TLF Phosban reactor 150. Just curious about if anyone has done this. if they have, how much GFO do you run in your reactor and if so what brand....but the big concern for me is what pump are you using for it? i have the old style maxijet 1200 for my chiller but i have noticed they have "remodeled" the maxi jet 1200 and from what i have read they are very noisy and a pain in the a**....any input would b greatly appreciate bc i got to get this taken care of asap before this hair algae kills my corals. thanks again guys..

I use 2 x 2LF Phosban 150's and a dedicated MJ400 to power them. I use either BRS HC GFO or 2LF Phosban, about 50-75g of either. Start slow though, GFO can shock your system and your corals.

Check out westernreefers thread for info on how he plumbed in the reactors to one of the existing returns pumps. Only drawback to this is reduced turnover rate and flow.

GFO reactors are the cats meawo for sure. But let me ask you this how long are the lights running for? What type of lights are you running? How old are the lights? What are the water perms? Do you have a good CUC? Do you have old sponges in your tank that need to change out? Are there any dead zones on flow that can be fixed? Does your tank get sunlight? What is your WC schedule like? Are you using tap water? Is the tank over stocked/bio load to high for the filtration? How well does the skimmer pull? Do you have one? What’s your water temp? How much do you feed? What do you feed? Have you modded anything on your tank? What do you drive? Where do you work? What’s that thing standing behind you?........

Ok I got carried away with the questions. Lol

I like the Two Little Fishies reactor and I use a maxi 900 the trick is to not tumble the gfo to hard or it will break up and end up all over your tank just enough to make it float around a little. You want to not fill the camber to high about 10% full. I love watching a tank use one for the first time and see the nasty alagy melt away.

Hey post a pix……lol
