Yes, Roger at Tunze forum explained this way. The 9010 does not allow the air intake to fully open, so it is restricted operation. An easy mod is to buy a 9010, add a riser tube to the top and elbow it to allow the bubbles flow down into a jug, similar to the 9020 only a single unit.
Another thing I have tried was simply remove the cup, I found out my wife's large blander cup fit right on it. It collects dry mud (95% dry content) on the large cup and I remove it once every month to scrape the mud away. I did have to buy her a better blander to keep her happy. You should have seen her expression when she realized where her toy had gone to.

I would choose the 9010 ($327.44) and purchase either a 9015.140 ($105.52) collection cup or a 9020.140 ($95.28) foam extraction unit.
The 9015 costs $427.33 and is simply a 9010 with a taller collection cup & reaction tube to allow the skimmer to dry skim at full air throttle without overflowing the cup. A 9010 with the 9015.140 collection cup costs only a few bucks more for a total of $432.96. You can then try either collection cup and different air adjustment settings to suit your taste.
Some believe that dry skimming does not remove as much organics (and water) as wet skimming but perhaps the higher air input rate allowed with the taller reaction tube may make up for that.
The best combination may be the 9010 with the 9020.140 foam extraction unit for a total of $422.72. I believe that this combination wet skims at a higher rate than the base 9010 system and extracts more organics than the dry skimming of the 9015.

Well I am just going to go with the 9020 to be on the safe side. Can't go wrong by going bigger
