To Herbie or Not..

Hey all, I've got a Minireef 150 setup and it's been running now for about a month.
It has a durso setup which makes my drain pipe quite noisy in the sump, and even tho I've modified it as much as I can (different length pipes going into sump) it just still makes a gurgling/water splashing noise.
So now I'm thinking of changing it to a Herbie overflow, and just running a return over the back into the original outlet hole in the weir.
I have no valve on the drain pipe, but my nyos 2 return pump is adjustable. If I ramped the flow right down the noise is a lot less, but so is my flow and I'm then worried that there won't be enough going back into DT even tho I have a 6025 in there. And the water in the sump looks like there's little to no moment with pump ramped down, would this be an issue?
Maybe I'm looking into it to much, what are people's thought?

Good idea, The Herbie with a full siphon and gate valve moves more water very quietly. That's what Iv'e done. Next pump cleaning I'm going up to 3/4" pvc for return flow.

I have a herbie setup and I love it, I felt the durso was to complicated and I wanted something simple. My emergency return has amount of water that goes down quietly.

Current Herbie has been setup for over a year and was adjusted twice. Once when setting up and recently when I added a twolittle fishes GFO to my return pump.
