To keep or not to keep fluval 305

I have a 55 plus 18 sump. 50-70 pounds of live rock and a remora c skimmer. When I got the tank used 2 years ago it came with the fluval 305. I added the sump skimmer about a month ago. Should I still run the fluval. Besides being a pain to clean I am wondering if my system would run better without it. Any experience or advice? Nitrates in my system have always been in the 15-20 range. I would like to lower this. I have a in sump fuge with chaeto and a light.

I would just take it off. If you wanna run carbon or gfo get a little fluidized reactor. It'll make your life so much easier. What are you running in the fluval?

Nothing special. Carbon and the regular bio pellets.

Yea take the fluval out. Unless you really stay up on your cleaning it becomes a nitrate factory. Even then as you said it is a pain to.clean. also just pull it out it won't harm anything.
