I don't feel LA should be "pushing" the sale of wild caught fish to hobbiest when u have a tank raised alternative available as well.

I understand the need for a business to make money but I think you should have the tank raised on sale as opposed to the wild caught.
Else LA is making a bigger environment footprint.

Obviously its up to the customer as to what they wish to buy. However making the WC option cheaper many who don't care about the origin of the fish will go for the cheaper priced alternative.

MimicTang,

LiveAquaria.com is the largest and most responsible supplier of aquatic life in the country. We work with the most experienced and responsible suppliers in the industry - those who share our commitment to the preservation of our oceans and the life within them. To protect our natural resources, we support companies investing in aquacultured and tankraised species.

We determine what items to place on sale due to availability. If we have an abundance of a species we will include it in our LiveAquaria.com Weekly Specials. We offer sales on tank or farm raised species consistently, however, not in this weeks specials. Please watch our sales and you will see a rotation of items to include all varieties.

I am glad to hear that you are as concerned about this subject as we are,

Jaimie Anderson
Manager of LiveAquaria

Thank you for your concern on aquaculture. Even though your post was about fish and I share your concerns, I wanted to further mention our commitment to the ocean's resources.

Marty Smith and I have spent over one million dollars of private money on our Wisconsin aquaculture facility. This is unprecedented in the United States. Yes, there are other facilities of scale but they are mostly funded with grants and public monies. The aquaculture facility is OUR commitment to the hobby. Our Wisconsin facility was not founded as a money making entity but rather a labor of love to serve the reefkeeping industry and help protect the ocean's resources. Kevin, Marty and I want to lead the way and show what we,-- as private individuals,-- can contribute. Yes, we need the hobbies support to continue, but we are confident that together we can make a difference.

Thank you for sharing our commitment--- Race Foster, D.V.M.
