to much flow?

Is 35x turnover to much flow for a 50g Lps dominated tank. (36x18x18) Corals seem okay, but they always open up more when i have less flow. Is 1750gph to much? The reason I increased the flow was to get rid of any dead spots and to help the two montipora's I have.

Thoughts?

You should be fine. You might just have to spend a little time getting the power heads and returns aimed the right directions.

it could be too much, or maybe even too little. watch how the corals respond and use that to determine if you're in the right ball park. if you say they're staying shut, it may be a concern, but if they're just a little less liberally inflated I wouldnt worry too much about it.

the torches, duncans, brains, candycanes, hammers, etc aren't shut there just not full inflated. i dont have a sand storm going on but the corals are being blow around a lot. the duncans are getting the worst of it. anyone know if they do alright in high flow?

I have the exact same tank. I have more flow than that in mine. My tank is a mixed reef with lots of sps and lps. I really had to play around with positioning my lps to make them happy. If you want to calm thing down a bit, you could try to direct most of your flow down and behind the reef. That will get random currents streaming out from nooks and crannies in the rock scape, then you can place your corals in the less intanse areas. Most lps do appreciate milder flow.
