To much powerhead?

I just got my two new powerheads in today 1300 gph so I relocated my older two powerheads to the back wall of my tank which are 800gph but when I started the two new pumps they are disturbing my sand bed and kicking up sand all over the place. I have them facing up and towards the front of the glass.
Any suggestions?

No they are definitely pushing flow forward.

What brand are they? In the past I had used a screen to cover the outlet to slow down the flow or if worse comes to worse you could always slightly trim down the impeller. I have had to do both in a pinch before.

Another option is to face it directly into a piece of live rock if possible. I don't recommend trimming it unless you were forced too btw.. But it does work...

This is why I was trying to ask around so much before I bought my new ones. How fine is your substrate?

The substrate is mixed very fine with some coarse but I think I solved my problem with some angling adjustments so far so good just got to find a new spot for my duncans too much flow on them lol

Cool, glad you got it figured out. Usually it just takes some time messing around with things.

Take out one of the 800gph power heads and see if that helps.
