To Re-aquascape or not to reaquascape, that is the question?

Been almost a year since aqua-scaping my tank and its doing well but Im in the mood for a lil change, ironically I always say just leave the tank be, but here I am peering into my glass cage and wishing I had done a few things differently.. Question is should I just leave it and let it grow in (which will look good just going to take more time) or just make they changes I desire and let it be.. I always give the advice to people to let there tank be to optimize growth and alleviate stress but here I am looking to make changes to improve my appearance what to do what to do ???? :headwalls:

I just re-did my aquascape. I know in a year, I will think I failed and do it again. It is a cycle. I vote to redo it, just give yourself a few hours. I always run out of time.

OK I just finished.... heres the before

and heres the after

Think it turned out much better.. it was too much rock just stacked on top of one another before now theres lots of open spaces and still plenty of hiding spots for all the fish and critters :)
I 'm glad I did it , thanks for the encouragement. :celeb1:

so far no... I just dropped that mp40 on the right down to get a better crossflow, believe it or not it is about 6-8" from the line of the mp-40 and I rarely have the speed higher than 50% what i have noticed is the elegance does not fully extend while in the flow, it still extends but when in a minimal flow area it extends approx 30% more.. Once the dust filters out from the move I will move it back up... I keep trying to find the optimal spots for each of my mp-40's but its tough to gauge where its best ?..

I love the new shelves man, well done.

Thanks Justin... Really appreciate all the compliments... Its so cool being able to see the back of the tank now ,, just seems like so much more room and I only removed maybe 10 lbs of rock (which my other new tank needed anyways)
The tonga branches really come in handy for building the shelving and Randy @ arc has this shelf rock (or had ??) which is great stuff for this type of application..

Thanks again everyone for the encouragement and compliments :)

great improvment for sure ! i change my reef tank many times a year and i have a great time doing it . it always looks better than before but i think it just because its all changed around.i have 200 lbs of live rock in my sump and just pull out some new rocks and slap the tank together into a new look .
yours looks very impressive ,nice job man !

Wow, very very nice!! This looks so good. I love the open space in the front and the amount of real estate that you have on the sand bed.

This is a pretty huge tank, so I imagine that this was a big job. Well worth it!

Ironically I am normally opposed to re squad aping just because it disrupts the settling of most corals especially acros and other sps corals . However I just couldn't stand the astetic value of what I was looking at :( so with a lil encouragement I took the plunge and I'm quite pleases with the results.. Most of the time I get irritated by bridges and caves collapsing soon after setting, but in this case stuff just stuck together like it was meant to be lol ;)

Ben I gotta agree :) to my amazement however it didnt take as long as I expected it would, a lil over 2 hours and that includes removing 80% of all my corals onto a separate holding tank... When you coming by??? Lol
Hit me up ! Thanks again

whatever you do, do NOT disturb sand bad. last time re-aquscape cost me to many rare corals:(

I second this. I made the mistake of accidentally disturbing the sand bed and it had all kinds of nastiness in it. Turned the water all kinds of dark colors and water was not good. Had to huge water changes to fix. Luckily i only lost a couple polyps on some zoas here and there.

the restack looks great!

Well i didn't think i messed with the bed too badly but obviously i did ..all but 1 one of my acros are dead ...fortunately the one that was unaffected was my largest and most prized but none the less lotsa death came my way.. polyps seem good as well as all my lps with the exception of a new green torch i had picked up from lockport :( and im not sure if the water change had anything to do with that death or not (i'm leaning towards not) but hey thats the chance we take i guess tanks doing great no but what a bummer... oh well its the fall gives me a reason to buy more....
