Here is the scenario that I need some advice on.
I had a set of tank bred percula clownfish in a QT for 4 weeks. From the very first day I got them they ate well, acted normal, very personable & overall were perfect in every way. The tank was set up in January and these were going to be the first fish in the DT.
The fish were due out of QT on Wednesday so I purchased a m/f pair of banggai cardinals for delivery on Thursday. Wednesday night the move went perfect. It took maybe 30 seconds to transfer both fish into the DT. After the move there was a little glass surfing but nothing major.
Thursday came and my new fish were delivered along with a few new coral frags. Acclimated the fish and put them in the QT tank that the clowns had left the night before.
While putting a little food in the QT for the new arrivals the main lighting turned on the DT. I went over to look at the clowns and they looked bad. They had gone from perfect looking fish to close to death in about 18 hours. It turns out they had Brook. I went out and bought another tank to treat them but the female died about 15 minutes ago and the male won't make it till morning.
So now I have Brook in my DT. From what I've read so far it needs to be fallow for at least 8 weeks, so I know what has to be done there.
Now for the big question, do I need to treat the cardinals that are in the QT that the clowns came out of? The treatment for Brook is formaldehyde and it's toxic. So do I take the chance of killing the cardinals by treating them for something they may not have or do I wait until the symptoms show up and take the chance of not being able to catch it in time and that killing them?
