I currently have a big Toadstool Leather coral that has been in the tank for about 7 months. It is the long polyp variety and it was happy and healthy for the first 5 months but for the last two months it's polpys no longer extend are rarly show themselves at all. My tank is mainly setup to accomodate SPS corals so I have high flow throughout the tank and am running about 2000 watts of total lighting. I have moved it around the tank trying to find a happy place for it but it's condition has remained the same. The coral itself look fine it is just not extending its polyps.
What generally causes these corals to not show their polyps? My water params are in check with a typical SPS tank and I have not problems with any of my other corals including a big Devils Hand Leather which is all the way on the other side of the tank. I generally keep the Toadstool isolated from other inverts so I don't think that there is any chemical warfare going on.
