I have a toadstool that was doing great and recently he has been closed up and is now hanging over ....is there someithing wrong with it or is this normal.. any thoughts would be helpfullllllll

Is there any black around the base/trunk? If so then cut off the cap and mount it using string tied loosely to a rock. Sometimes they just go through a period where they look really ****ed off. Have you moved it or brushed your hand against it. That's enough to do it. They are strange creatures.

Not trying to sell the tread .
I have the same problem . My toadstool is gray in color and has not opened for several weeks . All tank levels are within normal limits .
Any ideas

tha funny thing is that it wont open during the day only at nite...but the thing is pretty much flat on the rock but its open...i don't know what its doing...is it dying or what...the water is great...i just tested it...so it can't be that...

i noticed that the base of mine is kinda brown/yellow...is that normal...doubt it ...i have no clue wat to do ....should i cut it and tie it to the rock....if i do that will it survive or not...???

IME Toadstools of mine seem to be sensitive to salinity. Make a long story short when I set up my new tank and got my neon green polyped sarcophyton in it didn't open up for several weeks and I thought that was very strange. So a had my refractometer checked. It was reading 1.026 when in actuality my salinity was 1.018. I corrected my salinity and polyps have been out and happy for a few months now. Of course occaisionally it closes up but not near as often and not for long.

i checked the salinity and it is at 1.025 so i think thats in the range...everything is fine with the water but i noticed that on the base of it it is a yellowish in color while under the head of it ,,it is a pinkish color ....is that normal.....???

Don't try this unless it's the last resort but one time my toadstool closed up for weeks and I rubbed the waxy layer off of its surface, did 25% water change, and it opened up right there and then.

Try placing the coral in strong water movement and/or using a turkey baster to gently remove debris. You will see immediate removal in strong current (especially the use of the baster). If flow is the issue, you should see results within a few days after placement. It may also be a good idea to run carbon in attempt to remove any alleopathic possibilities.

Good luck :)
