Toadstool Issues

I really don't know where to start. My toadstool was doing fantastic for about two months then all of a sudden it stopped opening its polyps and has nothing but tiny nubs that won't extend and it goes through small shriveled up looking to big and leaning over. My ricordea are doing awesome which is weird because you would think those would be hurting too but, not so much. I had two outbreaks of red slime algae and took care of that then my **** heater went out on me and my salinity skyrocketed and now that is fixed, but, he is still not doing well no matter where I move him in the tank. Thoughts?

All parameters are stable and good now, heat is running about 80 degrees, and salinity is at about 1.025 (just above right where it should be).

In addition I am upgrading my pico tank tomorrow because I am bored with it and want more fish so any thoughts on moving forward?

It sounds like typical toadstool behavior. They really hate being messed with and they hate changes in water chemistry- and it sounds like it has been though both. Just leave it in a spot with enough light and a decent amount of flow and it should perk back up with time. I have seen some that stay closed for a month after sudden water chemistry changes or being moved to a new spot or tank.

I have noticed that the my toadstools that get more flow tend to go back to normal than the ones that get less flow.

The best thing that you can do for it is leave it alone and keep your parameters stable.

Yup, they're grumpy jerks. Just ignore him, if he's not falling apart left and right, he's just being a little creep. :) Mine grumps for DAYS after a water change (He's big enough that the water change leaves him exposed to air for 30 seconds.) and he's grumped for about 3 weeks since I changed my circ pump.

If at months, try checking your parameters and testing where the water is on him and make sure nothing is touching him at all... ever. They're grumpy, hate being touched, want dirty water with no nitrates, high calcium, and variable flow (Mine prefers indirect medium flow.) Just don't flop them around repeatedly to find the right flow, use your hand to find the right flow you think they'll like then move them and leave it for a few weeks. :)

^^All from experience so far, if I learn anything new, I'll let ya know lol.
