Toadstool Leather Coral Propagation

My toadstool leather is taking over my tank. The thing is HUGE!!! I read that you can cut the coral with a razor blade, and the cuttings will grow into new toadstools. Is this true? Is there anything special that I need to do? Has anybody ever done this with any success?

I have too. Clean razor, generally you get a new colony quicker with larger pieces cut IMO.

I'll often remove the coral for it [easier to do] and keep it in a small tub/rubbermaid/etc for propagation. Do the mounting/attaching of the frags ... let all the slime, mucus/etc disappate after cutting in a separate container vs. the tank where they might affect other livestock.

For attachment, I normally use the plastic-toothpick method [plastic toothpicks are cheap at a `party store'].

I'm sure there are threads via search too ...but that will get you some more ideas.
