I got a toadstool leather about 3 days ago. He looked beautiful at the lfs once I put him in my tank he closed up and only blooms at night under the moon lights. Once I turn on the main lights which are 4 high output t5's. Any idea what would be causing this?
My toadstool will close up for 3-5 days every now and again. They occasionally look awful as the go through a cycle of shedding their old skin to replace it with new. The stress of moving just caused to coral to enter that cycle. If you can see the skin peeling off, take a turkey baster to it and gently blow off the loose skin to help it out.
The only thing to keep in mind is that the mucus and skin sloughed off during this process is toxic and can affect nearby downstream corals.
