here's my toadstool. obviously its not looking good. was looking great at the store when I bought it, but hasn't opened up and its been 2 weeks. all tank parameters are within proper levels. what should i do with it?

I would try moving it as they like medium to high flow since they shed. I have one also and it got so big (size of a dinner plate) that I finally had to frag it and now I have about 10 little ones. I would move it to another location before you decide to get rid of it. Sometimes they will close up for a week or two.

Is that your first toadstool? It does have some polyps extended. Perhaps if it sheds its outer skin, put up some new pics to show everyone the changes. I have been having mine for over a year and they never shed. That one looks like it might which is common among toadstools.

Do you have fish set on it. I have my Starry and Bi-Color Blenny sit on my Toadstool. They will look like that sometimes after they sit on them.

T5 aquaticlife fixture. i'll get some pictures later tonight. some polyps are coming up but just a little bit.

the thing is that in the store it looked perfect, and hasn't looked like that since I brought it home.

i would actually wait another week or 2 before moving it,or adjusting flow... toadstool's are infamous for acclimating real slow!

Im going to vouch for shedding. That's exactly what mine does when it begins shedding. It took 2 weeks to fully expel.

Mine did the exact same thing for two weeks, finally i just moved it out of direct flow and a day later polyps were extended all the way. Been doing great ever since..i would definitly move it away from flow

yea i'm not sure. i actually added two more pumps to the tank, and then polyps started to show but the color was, and is, still not the same from when I bought it. also its been about a month and it has not changed much.

+1

Mine goes in and out of that phase all the time. In the beginning, I used to get worried; not anymore. I think toadstools are pretty hard to kill.
