Hi guys
Long time reader first time poster. I hope you might be able to help diagnose what might be wrong with my fairly recently-purchased Toadstool.
To give a brief description of the background, I bought the coral just over a week ago and within a couple of hours it seemed to be enjoying its new home with all polyps extended and shimmering in the light! However, after 5 or so days I returned home from work to find the 'stool closed up.
I researched what could cause this but nothing seemed to be very obvious. I read lots about the 'shedding' process and thought that as this was a new environment for 'stool it might be the most obvious cause. I also decided to reposition because I'd read several other online stories citing flow/lighting etc as the possible cause. As I moved it seemed to close up more, leading me to think (possibly wrongly) that the coral was not dead and instead just unhappy with life.
Three days later and the coral still refuses to open. I've attached a picture to help someone identify any obvious issues that I'm not seeing. When I last tested calcium and magnesium were slightly high but I have taken measures to rectify that, phosphates are minimal. Everything else is ok.
Does anyone have anything they can offer as a potential diagnosis and solution? I don't like seeing unhappy inhabitants in my tank!
