Toadstool question

I have a question for the leather guys. I have a green polyp toadstool that has been doing great for a few months now, but the last 2 days, it has not extended its polyps. It has a glossy look to its surface. I recall reading somewhere that leathers "shed" every now and again and may close up for a while. Just looking for a conformation as i cannot remember what article i read this in. Ill post some pics if i need to, but there isnt much to see, it looks very well. All water params are normal and have not fluctuated.

Yep, they do that. You may want to run some carbon when it is sloughing this skin off. Also, it the skin lands on another coral when it breaks free it could damage it so watch for it and net it out if you can see it.

My cousin has a giant toad stool in his tank that's been fragged many times. Sometimes his closes up for a few days at a time and then takes off on a growing spurt. I dont have one myself though.

It does that every so often just to clear off the detritus and any algae that may have accumulated. Nothing to worry about.

Thanks everyone. I didnt think it was a problem, but thought i would get a public conformation :D. Im not seeing any schluffing on skin, but i does look cleaner lol.
