Toadstool Trouble

About 1 1/2 weeks ago i purchased a toadstool leather and now its leaning over and its really folded up and the polyps are only about half extended

Any details on the tank? How big, how much rock (filtration) how much/what type of light, how much flow (what are your powerheads)?

And what about the params?? Need to know nitrates, temp, pH, sg, etc...

Personally i wouldnt worry too much due to the fact that its still opening up (even though its not all the way). It sounds like it may not have good enough flow or one of your params are out of wack..

Sidetracked, but its needs attention IMO...you say you've got a 50g tank. Is that fish list current? If so, both the tangs need to go. There's no tang that will do well in a 50g tank, ESPESIALLY a sailfin and/or clown tang...add the fact that you've got BOTH of them and that will be major trouble in the near future. Thats like 10 fish in a 50g tank...minus all the water displacement from the rock and sand and you could be lookin at about 40g of actual water.

If everything is tiny, they might be fine for a while...but once those tangs grow much that wont be good.

I wouldn't worry too much, either on the leather. They are very tempermental. I've got one that closes up every year, sometimes for as long as two months... If it starts disintegrating or turns black and mushy, it's likely a gonner, but short of that, just give it time (assuming parameters are in check).

I have 3 t5 lights total of 60w.
Nitrite - 0
Ammonia - 0
Nitrate - -0
PH - 8.3
SG - 1.021 ( i know it needs highering)
Calcium - 500 too high
Phosphate - 0.4

the tangs are only small but when they start to grow they will be moved.
10k live rock will be adding more
Koralia 2 powerhead aiming towards toadstool. There is a small hole in the side now and it is really drooping down and its got small white bits coming of the polyps on to the rock. its gone sort of mushy but not black.

ok... those t5's are not high output ones...meaning they're not gonna do nothin for you really. They might grow some polyps, but definitely wont hold a leather's health for very long. Those are just regular strip lights (I'm guessing the bulbs probably say "Promotes coral growth" or something jazzy like that, but they wont do much for you in a 50g tank).

Your salt...yes its way low. Thats like what you'd run it at in a fish only setup. Start topping off with saltwater every day now until it brings it up to 1.025 or 1.026 (i run mine higher even since thats what i've found works best for me...but i'd shoot for the normal range).

Calcium should be fine. Little high but shouldnt hurt anything in my experience.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but i got no clue what 10K of rock converts to in pounds

Thanks for help but the toadstool didn't make it i went out for a while and came home and half of it was on the live rock and half on the sandbed. it literally fell apart. and the tangs are just an excuse for a bigger tank lol.

yup. I always get alk and mag mixed up for some reason lol. Alk is important for leathers (trying to scratch that in my brain so it sticks ;) )
