Toadstool with a Hole

We have a Toadstool that's really quite large. The cap is about 12 inches and the stalk is larger than the diameter of my arm. It now has a hole in the stalk that I could put my finger in. Any explanation or cause?

Mine has a hole as well,it has been there for a year,no issues yet.

mine has holes but usually splits little heads off and fills in pretty quickly never that long.
