Fantastic! Beautiful toadstool you got there. The 'polyps' as we call them will come out. Mine get about 1/2"-3/4" long. Give it some more time to acclimate and it should look amazing. Here's a small pic of mine so you can see the polyp extension. :)

The polyps there look like they are full length already.Try posting this again in the soft coral forum. That actually looks like a Fiji leather to me. They tend to like fairly high lighting and flow. Looks good though.

I second the identification of a fiji leather, they are somewhat different from other leathers regarding polyp extension, lighting, etc

oh no. did i buy the wrong one there were 2 different kinds where i bought it one green and one yellow but they told me it was the same thing. so i got the yellow because it was nicer looking. what do i need to do to maintain this coral?

It is most likely a Yellow Fiji Leather. However, the polyps I've seen on them have been slightly more extended than yours. Still looks like it's acclimating to me. They are a more light demanding species, so put it high up in your tank. ;)

What kind of lights do you have? Before you move it lets look at your equipment. What kind/how much flow do you have? (what kinds of powerheads how many gallons per hour). Flow and water quality can't be substituted for. You can feed the leather if you don't have enough light.

right now i have the nova extreme 4 x 54. 55g tank with a seio powerhead on one size the m820 and just my regular mag pump i believe it's the 9.5 model i have to check again when i get home.

You are most likely ok for now. I would definitely look in to upgrading my flow if you want more than soft corals and LPS. For example you have about 1500 gallons per hour of flow in your tank that's about 28X your tank volume per hour. In my 29 gallon that I am currently running I have 1600 gallons per hour. That is closer to 54x my tank volume in flow. I personally think you are actually ok for now. I have found that my corals are happier with the added flow; but I would change things slowly rather than just changing everything at once.

That lighting is more than ok, so no need to move it. For some reason I though you were running PC's over the tank. T5HO are great. I have 30x turnover in my tank with mostly softies and lps. ;)
