well the new owners came and picked up my 80 gallon reef tank last night. now i have a nice check and i am going to be moving to this side of the board, nano tanks!! i will be ordering my new nano later today. let me tell ya'll what i want, and please give me some advise.

i am looking at putting a matted pair of clowns in the tank, along with some other cool fish. but i do plan on keeping the bio load low. of course some inverts and maybe a shrimp of some sort. i also want an anenome plus some other corals (sps, lps), so i know that i am going to need something with an hqi upgrade for the anenome and the other corals.

now these are some options. i want no smaller than 24 gallon. and it has to be one of these all-in-one nano tanks. i like the idea of it all being in one

-aquapod24.....i like this. but i see the hqi upgrade is only a 70 watt hgi....is that enought?

cadlights.com...... has a really nice tank. a bit spendy (449.00). but has a 150 hqi upgrade. it also has a small light for the refuge. it seems really nice. but its back ordered until mid-january. and i can't wait,lol...

bio-cube 29..... this looks nice, but its seems it has a crapy light, with know hqi upgrade available.

finnex..... i don't know much about these. but whats your thoughts.

thanks guys and gals for any info. i am excited, and like i said, i will be ordering my tank today.

Hey,
I have a 24g aquapod and I love love love it! I started with the stock pc's, upgraded to the 70w mh, and then upgraded to the 150w mh. I wish I had just started with the 150w because it looks amazing!

My corals are growing like crazy, my fish are happy, The aquapod is an awesome nano IMO.
I also run an aqua c remora on the back of mine and it's barely visable, which is a huge plus for me.
If you go with the aquapod, make sure you buy a maxijet to replace the stock pump. Mine rusted and wasnt reliable at all.
I replaced it with the 1200.
PM me if you have any questions about the pod, but thats what I would go with. Congrats !

can you point me to a link (website) that has the aquapod with the 150 hqi. i have always liked the aquapod, i just didn't know you could get that good lighting with it. thanks and if i do get it, i am sure i will pm you with ideas.

also, you can click on my www to see a current tank shot of my nano.

Not much color on my rock though, it's all new rock. I need to take new pics, lol.

I have a Finnex M tank 30G. Very nice set up. Ken is a great guy to deal with from a customer support standpoint as I had a couple issues you can read in the 30 Mtank thread but it's a great tank IMO.

Welcome to the small side :)

thanks. what have you had to do to the finnex. or is it a complete turn-key system with a good lighting system. i like the 30 gallon size. does it have a good refuge on the back?

Here is the one I have:

Finnex 30G MTank

PA was great to deal with as well.

Had the tank running for 5-6 weeks and it has finished its' cycle.

I think the wife is heading to the LFS for some critters to do the clean up :) Horray

I am currently using a Maxjet 900 for added flow in the display area. The kit comes with a main pump for circulation of the refugium and the main display area. And a Pump on the skimmer.

I did order a Tunze Nanostream 6025 which should be here this week.

I have the same Finnex and would not recomend it. I'm sure it will work well for you but there appear to be quality issues. I've had a few parts break and have had to get them replaced. I'm also going to have to silione the sump section because it has come apart.
Ken at Finnex has been happy to replace items but if I would expect not to have to contact Ken to begin with. I would stay away from Finnex.

Hey Mike,

That stinks to hear you are having some QC issues. I am happy with my M tank thus far. However, if I had to do it all over again I would probably not do an all in one tank system.

When I purchased my tank I did now want to have any external plumbing and that was my deciding factor. I had a bad experience a couple years ago with a 90G fish only tank. Reading RC and watching others assemble their tanks boosted my confidence and I would have rather done an external sump. That would allow me to choose the equipment to use in the tank and not be "locked in" to using the equipment that came with the tank.

Having said that the 30G Mtank has been decent in my opinion. Other than the first tank arriving broken by UPS and the stand directions being hard to folow, QC has been decent on my tank.

Just my $.02.

Sorry to hear about your frustration Mike. :( How has your Tunze nan stream(s) been working for you?

Matt
