My tomato clown was put in the tank about a week ago and went to the Rose bubble tip Anemone almost instantly however he never leaves the damn thing not to eat not to swim nothing all day long 24/7 he's in the damn thing i'm worried for his health and the health of the of the Anemone they both seem find at the moment. I have a Percula in the tank as well but he never paid any mind to the RBT is it possibly staying in there thinking the other clown will go in there and take his spot or is this normal behavior.

Well i just jinxed myself the tomato clown is currently laying on the rock outside the anemone breathing heavy my guess is he'll be dead by morning stupid fish

There's no lid on the tank and there is plwnty of flow in the the tank the dumb fish just didn't leave the anemone for the last 5 days

Sorry but i dont see any powerheads listed in your profile. This is why i suggested this. If you have a 220 gallon with only skimmer and return from fuge for water flow then your low.
3500 GPH would be a good minimum. Salt water recieves Oxygen and removes Nitrogen from a gas exchange at the surface and good steady water flow is needed. If you do have powerheads in there adding up to 2500 gph then i typed way to much.

You never know what the fish are gonna do. Could of been unhealthy when you got it. . Sounds like no QT so is a risk either way..

Did you try to blow food at him or feed the nem when he was in it? iME fish can go a long while not eating so im guessing food wasnt the issue after 1 week if it looked ok when you got it.. prob had something else Goin on.. Could have Been a wild caught and wasn't adapted to tank life or food. . you will prob never know.. That's why QT is important as you should hope it wasn't a parasite or disease that will wipe out the rest of your fish. . Not preaching just sayin ;)

I have 2 mp 40's for flow so it wasn't current problem for sure. The funny part was the clown ate the first day just prior to him taking to anemone then once he found his new best friend/ home I couldn't get him out of the damn thing the Anemone was trying to close up at night and he still wouldn't leave it alone it was like he became obsessed he literally loved it to death. He's not got yet but he's at the bottom of the tank and the RBT looks more relaxed and we all know what that means when your fish are resting at the bottom of the tank I'll be getting the net out tomorrow morning. I really think he wouldn't leave it thinking the other clown would take his place.

I wouldn't link being in an anemone and a fish dying, that's kinda what they do in nature. Keep in mind, often times when they leave their shelter in the wild they will risk getting eaten so this isn't abnormal. When we got our baby onyx almost 2 years ago, he wouldn't leave the gigantic GBTA he was living in, and most of the time we couldn't even see him he was so little. Two years later she now lives in a purple Gigantea.

So long story short, the others are probably right in that the fish was already sick and on the way out in the first place. Don't correlate the behavior with the possible death, not in this case at least.
