Do tomatoe clowns get darker as the grow? If so at what length does this usually occur?

As they get older they usally get slightly darker

Yes, they do get darker. Some get darker than others although I do not know what the reason for that is. I have seen older tomato clowns that are almost as dark as the color scarlet.
