tominni with a twitch

I have a tominni tang that I just added to my display last night. It had been treated in QT with prazi and cupramine for 4 weeks. It seemed fine ate well, clear fins no scratching etc. A friend was over today and asked why the tang had an apparent twitch in its dorsal fin. I had not noticed it before but now its all I see its not constant but frequent. Does this sound normal?

I wouldn't worry about a twitch in a dorsal fin, I would think that could be explained by normal behavior.

I'd be concerned if the tang was twitching it's entire body.

Especially after 4 weeks of Cupramine and Prazi, I have to think you would have killed any flukes.

It was mostly the dorsal fin but now it seems to be in the body sometimes too. It worries me to think the preventative treatment might not have been enough. It showed none of these symptoms in QT.

A few months later the twitch has continued and at times it definitely in its body as well. It also scratches on the rocks sometimes. I also have other fish that seem to twitch as well also some scratching. Other wise all eat well and seem fine. So my question is how aggressive are flukes? Is it possible that its had them all along? The only other symptoms are my helfrichi firefish seems to have fine spots on him at times but its hard to tell if its sand or not. And the Tang has a few spots from time to time.
Today I decided to pull all the fish just in case I have them in my qt that I keep running. I am just trying to decide if I should treat them and for what. I also need to know how long to leave the display fallow? TIA for any help.

sorry to hijack the thread but why QT with both prazi and cupramine when both treat flukes/ich/parasites? Isn't prazi supposed to be easier on the fish than cupramine is?

Well, I'd leave the display fallow for about 12 weeks. In that time you could treat with Cupramine for 4-6 weeks, and do 2 rounds of Prazipro. I think that'd be the most thorough treatment.

Also, I'm not sure if leaving your display fallow will interrupt the lifecycle of flukes and worms. Maybe someone can answer this. Otherwise, you'll have to do a treatment of Prazi in your fishless DT (which is not a problem, you just need to shut down the skimmer).
